My family and i and freinds from maryland went there on saturday the 6-14-08. I praised the restaurant because i go there during the red wings games and had great food and service, but all i had hear from the waiter JR that bussiness is slow so does that compromise the costomers orders. Most of all the price for the service i would rather eat at wendys.

we drove all the way down to Carls from Clarkston for a birthday celebration for my wife and daughter just for the scallops, that are usually the best in town, the two ladys were so dissapointed when Jason our server said we dont have any today. So my wife choose garlic shrimp which arrived saturated in oil, garlic was practially non-existant.My daughter choose beef tips over noodles which arrived without any egg noodles,Jason explained that there were no noodles in the kitchen!!,what kind of restaurant has no noodles of any kind on hand?My son-in-law choose prime rib (rare)which came medium well,he said it still had o.k. flavor but was not at all like he wanted it prepared,i ordered a porterhouse (rare)the steak was huge and prepared exactly to my liking,it looked absolutely perfectly perfect but was very tough and had little flavor,my fries were crinkle cut and burnt like you would get frozen from a bag(no-brand no doubt).I was so embarassed! my parents always took us as kids to Carls for special occasions all the time and the experience was always a memorable one and never once a dissapointment!I guess we will have to find a new place for memorable special occasions!! we will not go back, my daughter made a comment on the way out to us WE SHOULD OF WENT TO RED LOBSTER! what a shame, but she was so right and i would probably of saved almost $100.00 on top of this experience, expecially with gas almost at $4.00 a gallon.

after such a terrible evening of supposedly fine detroit dining, bad food and bathrooms both mens and womens, which lacked toilet paper and a cook in the kitchen ! We all noticed on the way out that the neon sign above the steer only the (C) was still lit the ARLS was burnt out maybe that is a sign that its time to turn off the sign completely and close the doors. Next time we will stay in the casino and dine!we would of been so much more happy. Sorry old man Carl didnt get to see what his legacy had become he would of been just as dissapointed as we all were.

Had a surprise 40th anniversary party for our parents and the owner completely ruined experience. Reserved private room in Sept for party and when called to confirm a few days prior I found out(only by me asking) that the room would not be available due to some theft in June. No one EVER communicated this to me. I dealt with John - banquet manager who could not fix the problem so I called Frank - owner and he said our party would indeed be in the private room. Upon arriving, the room was not ready and we had to sit in the bar with all their neon lights, not the atmosphere I was anticipating for a party of 32 with guests parents have not seen in 20 years. Additionally, no menus printed for us. We were served our food by one of the owners children who was no older than 9 or 10. The hostess was also seating guests with an infant in a carrier around her shoulder - very unprofessional. At the end the owner tried to charge me for the $200 deposit that I already paid in Oct and then some additional fee of $200. When I questioned the bill he became very defensive and actually made me talk with our waitress on his cell phone who had already gone home for the evening. This could have been a very nice evening but instead the owner, Frank turned it into one of the most awful evenings. We picked this restaurant because of it's history in Detroit and it's where my father's family fist met my mother and where my mother had her parent's 25th Wedding Anniversary party many years ago.
